This is America being America. You can be cynical about Elon Musk, and plenty are. But "don't bet against Elon" keeps turning into the most expensive lesson on the Street.
SpaceX went public on Friday, making Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire. Out of curiosity, I added up every Indian billionaire on the Forbes list - all 223 of them - and the whole pile comes to about $1 trillion. Musk, on his own, is now worth more than all of them combined, with another $276 billion to spare.
Sit with what the market just did, though. A company that lost $5 billion last year got handed a $2.5 trillion valuation because of one man. Try floating that story on any other exchange in the world.
